Location: Poe Hall, NC State University
This professional development series addresses concerns of novice and experienced teachers new to North Carolina English classrooms. Sessions will address issues specific to North Carolina, such as understanding state assessments and using the NC ELA Standard Course of Study. Other sessions will address research-based strategies for improving student achievement in English Language Arts and literacy.
Presenters will be Capital Area Writing Project Teacher Consultants. These TCs are ELA educators (teachers and supervisors) who have participated in the National Writing Project Summer Institute at NC State. Representing several local districts, they are knowledgeable and passionate about English and literacy in North Carolina. |
NOTE: Workshops can be taken separately. However, we HIGHLY recommend that you combine the Saturday Seminar Series Kick-Off with other sessions you like. For each 2 workshops (10 hours total) completed, you will receive a certificate of attendance, which you may use as renewal credit in your district.
Cost per session: $100 for 1 session; $90/session for 2 - 5 sessions, $75/session for 6-7 sessions. Registration includes lunch.
