This professional development series addresses concerns of novice and experienced teachers new to North Carolina English classrooms. Sessions will address issues specific to North Carolina, such as understanding state assessments and using the NC ELA Standard Course of Study. Other sessions will address research-based strategies for improving student achievement in English Language Arts and literacy.

Presenters will be Capital Area Writing Project Teacher Consultants. These TCs are ELA educators (teachers and supervisors) who have participated in the National Writing Project Summer Institute at NC State. Representing several local districts, they are knowledgeable and passionate about English and literacy in North Carolina.
